Welcome!

Welcome to HowCuteisGreyson.blogspot.com. I started this blog to chronicle updates on my adorable son, Greyson. My hope was that family and friends could come here to see pictures and little updates each day...but what I've found is a community of mothers just like me that were looking to share their stories as well. I am in no way a professional mother lol if there is such a thing, so I am not here to give advice. I am simply here to share my experiences and keep aware of what other mothers might be doing.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Greyson sure is cute but...Sleep Deprived Mamas are NOT!

For the last few weeks Greyson has been awake every 2-3 hours at night. This is really taking it's toll on me. I think I could better cope if he napped more than 20 minutes here and there during the day, but he does not. Is anyone else's LO going through this (sleep regression)? What are you doing to create a new sleep routine? Is it working? How long does it last?

I've been giving him 2 tablespoons of cereal in his bedtime bottle which I've upped to 6ozs. Should I try more?

He does not get a bottle or a nap after 9PM until his bedtime feeding at 10:30-11PM.

I've tried the CIO method but I don't like to do it. Not to mention, if I let him cry more than 3 minutes, he will wake up the whole house and our daughter has school in the AM.

Current sleep pattern:

11:00PM - 12:30AM
12:45AM - 3:30AM
3:45AM - 5:30AM
5:45AM - 7:30AM then up for the day...(and this morning he laid in his crib singing, it was so cute)

PS...has any one been known to go totally fuc%ing crazy due to sleep deprivation? I feel delusional some mornings,...BUT I'm working on it : )

Stuffed Ducky!

Stuffed duckies are cute and lots of fun, his eyes lit up when he got one!

But cuddling is not what he had in mind, he loves to hug but not this time...

Instead he decided to treat it like his feet.... that big orange beak he tried to eat!

My Nook Book

Smoochie face <3

More Food Please!

I think I am going to have to up Greyson's feedings from 4ozs to 6ozs. He cries for more when he finishes his bottles these days.

...my boy is growing so fast *sigh

How cute is Nathan?: And a lifelong friendship has blossomed...

How cute is Nathan?: And a lifelong friendship has blossomed...: For me and Nathan. During my pregnancy and shortly after I often heard "Mom, Naya's going to have a baby brother too; Naya's mom is due arou...

Quiet Moments

Quiet moments with you little boy are so sweet...
Oh my heart,...only God knows how much I could not wait to meet....
....you.
Little boy, little man, little bundle of love...my love
I love you.

Wow...it's about to happen...wait for it...wait for it...

My husband was right.

I have been yelling at my husband not to let Greyson sleep on his stomach for about a week now. I thought since we have never let him sleep on his stomach that we should just keep it going. And he would sneak and put Greyson on his stomach anyway telling me that he slept better (for naps) that way. Well since we were having a hard time today, and he was crying non-stop wanting to be held, once he fell asleep on my chest I put him on his stomach. HE HAS BEEN SOUND ASLEEP SINCE!! (almost an hour so far!!) I am sitting next to him and he is fine.

Someone wanted to be held...

...all day long!! I'm not sure what this phase is but he has been crying every time I put him down for the last two days. If he is awake and not being held...he's crying.

The upside...moments like this! Greyson peacefully sleeping in my arms after having a complete meltdown! : )

Chubby Bunkers!

Good morning cutie!

A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above, a handful of happiness, a heart full of love.
Precious and priceless, so lovable, too, the world's sweetest miracle baby, is you...

Home Sweet Home

....it feels good to be home after an awesome vacation in the Poconos with family and friends. (April 12-16)
We all had a good time, and Greyson did well! His sleep pattern was off, but he seemed to manage, never seeming cranky. Greyson was so interested in all that was going on he wouldn't let himself sleep. He got by with a few cat naps here and there, but there were no hour long naps. He really had fun! I think he matured a lot socially, I could see a difference each day. Being passed around all day will do that to you I suppose....but he was delighted. There were certainly a lot of kids to keep him entertained...and of course his best buddy Nathan. Greyson and Nathan went bowling for the first time (mostly sleeping in their car seats), they even went on a hike with the big kids! The weather was gorgeous so they spent a lot of time outdoors watching the big kids play.
Ready for our hike!
Bowling in the Pocs!

Oh yeah PEOPLE.... what I haven't mentioned in any of my earlier entries was that when Adria and I became friends, I didn't just gain a good friend for myself, and a good friend for Greyson...and Naya (I could go on lol) but we gained a CHEF!!! Adria's husband is a chef...and I have been eating extremely well...(which is why my preg pounds aren't just falling off). Travelling with a chef is the way to go...I highly recommend befriending one well enough to vacation with if you do not already have one in your close friends circle...it's the way to go...really!) For example....breakfast was: waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, biscuit sandwiches, sausage, home fries, and grits. Dinner would be something like steak, veggie stir fry (cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, carrots etc), spicy fried rice, white rice, chicken kabobs, jerk chicken, and barbeque chicken. And that would kick off with a huge bowl of fresh...hand chopped spicy Sakyi Salsa!
Sakyi Salsa
So yeah...the food, company, location, and cabin were fantastic...but there is nothing like walking in the front door of your home after vacation. What was most cool was the fact that Greyson was so happy to be home. I now believe he knows his home, he squealed when we walked in the door lol, it was adorable...and touching : )

Temper Tantrum

Here come the tears, the water works,
Screaming, teeming with emotion. Being a kid does have its perks.

When there is something that I want, And I don’t get it right away,
My wailing carries some cache, Without a reprieve or détente.

Dust on my end table...and the trash is always full.

I thought for sure that being a "stay at home mom" meant endless amounts of time to sit with the baby and do all of those educational and stimulating activities that I've heard about to increase my child's potential to be a genius. I thought that I would have a plethora of energy to keep the house spotless and bake cookies for Naya to be ready when she got off the bus. Iron my husbands work shirts and and take his suits to the cleaners, and have dinner ready every night when he got home...hahahahaha
I am not perfect (nor am I a 50's housewife, and no, I do not have a cleaning service), and despite the fact that I feel like I am always cleaning...I have dust on my end table, and the freaking trash is always full! Need I say more?

We had a good night!!

Greyson slept through the night last night (10:45PM - 7:00AM)!! Woooooooo!!! Aside from the fact that I was up a few times to check on him (mothers know what it means to not get sleep when your infant is sleeping because you fear something is wrong because they are actually sleeping...*sigh), we are all energized this morning! He ate quite a bit of green beans and apples last night around 8PM which is later than usual. That combined with his bedtime bottle (with a little more than a tablespoon of cereal) did the trick!

OAN...Yesterday during Greyson's evening tummy time (I try to give him at least 20 minutes twice a day) he was trying to crawl (..the inch worm version of crawl). Cutest thing ever! He would scoot his little butt in the air as high as he could and inch forward. Adorable!!

Thrifty Thursday - Fine Motor Skills from the Dollar Store

Thrifty Thursday - Fine Motor Skills from the Dollar Store

First family weekend away in the Poconos...how in the heck will we fit Greyson's stuff??

Oh boy...I have no idea how we will fit all of our crap in the truck for the Poconos this weekend. For Greyson alone we will need...his stroller, his exersaucer, his swing, co-sleeper, clothing, milk, diapers, blankets, and so forth. Not to mention we need to get OUR stuff in the truck......2 suitcases, Naya's bag, blankets, towels, pillows. I am already sacrificing his bath tub, bouncer seat, play mat and more. THIS is another one of those things that you forget about when you haven't had an infant in a while...packing is a bit$#! : )

A few of Greyson's vaca necessities...stroller, swing, exersaucer...

...maybe we need one of those little pull along trailers that link on to the truck.
Easter Bunny soft and white
Hopping quickly out of sight
Bringing treats and goodies too
I wish that I could play with you...
Greyson - Easter 2012 (04/08/12)
A long time ago, when the world was young
Someone put some food on their tongue
He tasted the food, and thought it was nice
He liked most fruit - but banana's made him think twice...

Seriously, how cute is he?

Friends for life...

...Naya had been talking about a friend at school named Kamille and how her mother was pregnant and due shortly after me. We found that exciting as they were both 7th graders expecting a new baby brother around the same time! Kamille's mother ended up going up going into labor 11 days earlier than I (I was not a happy camper : ))....this was one of those things that a pregnant women 5 days past her due date could cry over lol. EVERYONE was having their babies before me...even those due after me! (I know, I know...it's always about me!...but it kinda is because this is my blog.)

So fast forward to January 2012....Naya was headed out to celebrate the countdown as a church guest with Kamille. Kamille's mother offered to pick Naya up and consequently that is how we met!!...a few days later a facebook message and a budding friendship!

Adria and I had breakfast and have been great friends ever since. In fact, Nathan and Greyson do a lot together! They are best buds already! I honestly don't know what I would do out here in the suburbs without them!...(I'll talk about my friendship with Adria in a separate entry...we have amazing chemistry and our friendship is quite magical lol...you'll see).

I did her hair for this picture : )...Gorgeous! (Toot Toot)
 My Pal Adria...
Greyson and Nathan 1st Play Date

Our families spent Easter Sunday together and are taking our first joint vacation this weekend to the Poconos! Stay tuned!

Who am I? And why do I blog?

Hello, my name is Carla and I am a mother! An awesome mother at that : ) ..if I may say so myself.

I am 34 years young and I like to think that I am getting better with age...I hate to think that I am aging with age haha. I am married to a wonderful man...and we've had the pleasure of growing up together for the last 15 years.
Me - April 2012

Anyway, enough about me; I have two beautiful children...a 13 year old daughter Naya...and a 4 month new son Greyson.

Naya - February 2012
Greyson - March 2012

We had Naya when we were 22 years old....and before we new it 12 years had gone by. It was definitely time to try for another baby...if not now...then likely never. So we "worked" on it : )...and worked on it some more..until Poconos Vacation February 2011. (2/26 to be exact - that was Greyson's conception date)

Well...9 months later on December 1, 2011 Greyson was born...(8 days late mind you). In fact, both of my children were born exactly 8 days after their due date.

Now, I thought that having children later (at a more "appropriate" age) would be easier. (You can laugh at me later) The fact is that Naya was a piece of cake for us!...And that was likely and largely due to the fact that I was 22 and full of energy : ). Well, for as wonderfully sweet, adorable, hilarious, and loving little Greyson is...being a mom at 34 is much different than being a mother at 22. And for that reason, a lot of this is new to me once again. This time around I am not working...at least not right away...so I have plenty of time with my little man. Which also means plenty of time to experience the material for this blog. I look forward to sharing my "perceived" hilarity's with you all!

Stay tuned!
